Next on your itinerary should be Dodona Manor (312 E Market St., Leesburg), home to General George C Marshall from 1941 until his death in 1959. While perhaps not an obvious choice when it comes to sports history, Marshall played an instrumental role in shaping American military strategy during World War II and beyond. Many may not know that he was also an accomplished athlete playing football and baseball while attending VMI.
