Discover the Rich History of Sports in Vallejo, CA

For those interested in racing history, head over to Mare Island Naval Shipyard (Naval Base Building 123; Gate C, Mare Island Way near Tennessee Street intersection) home to one of Americas firstever racetracks back in 1870s. It was here where The Maid became famous when she broke speed records at nearly 100 mph on her maiden voyage out into open waters off Mare Island Strait.

Another great spot for exploration is Hogan Middle Schools stadium (850 Rosewood Ave., Vallejo, CA 94591). Not only does it host many local sporting events today but it has been doing so since the early nineteen hundreds! Back then this stadium hosted American football games that brought together white teams and African American teams from Oakland or Richmond facingoff against each other in front large crowds often exceeding several thousand people!

Last but not least comes our very own McCormack Field located at Patterson Avenue & Magazine St., Vallejo (CA) 94590 which has been active since early twenty century as well! Here local high school football teams have been playing their games for over a century, and it remains an important location in the heart of Vallejos sporting culture.
