Exploring the Sports History of Keller, TX

When it comes to sports history, Keller, TX has a rich and diverse past. From small community teams to nationally recognized champions, this town has seen it all. Whether youre a diehard fan or just curious about the local heritage, there are plenty of places to explore.

One great place to start is at Bear Creek Park (400 Bear Creek Parkway). Here youll find a monument commemorating the 195455 high school basketball team that won backtoback state championships. The teams star player was Bob King who went on to play for SMU before becoming an awardwinning coach himself.

Another mustvisit location is Marshall Grain Co. (3525 William D Tate Ave), which may seem like an odd spot for sports history but plays an important role in Kellers equestrian heritage.Today it sells feed and seed but years ago they originally sold horse oats! Horse riders would come here from miles around to purchase their equine supplies before taking off into the surrounding countryside near B.F Phillips Community Park where people can ride horses today.

For those interested in baseball history, head over to KHS Indian Field located behind Helen Keller Middle School (201 Pate Orr Rd N). This field has been home territory for generations of young ball players in town who have excelled throughout youth programs with many eventually going on playing collegiate ball.
